Dorothy Stanosek was born in the small town of Walnut, Iowa. She graduated from nursing school in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1949. She enlisted in The Air Force in 1952 and served at an Air Force base outside Bordeaux, France where she took care of American soldiers with other nurses. Upon return to The United States she got married. She was very proud to receive a letter from the President of South Korea in 2011 and is proud to be a Korean War era veteran. Her brother, Donald Sharp, served in the Air Force as a bombardier during the Korean War.
