The Korean War Legacy Foundation is honored to host the 2020 World Congress of Teachers of the Korean War to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the war. The conference will be a special online event on Saturday, December 12th from 9:00 am- 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time and will include 100 history and social science teachers from 22 countries. The sessions will include special commemoration ceremonies, including special remarks from an MPVA Representative, a historical lecture on the war and its significance, training on an oral history library of veteran interviews, case studies of materials on the Korean War, and presentations on the unique contributions of UN Nations. More information about the conference can be found on the attached page.

We encourage you to invite your history and social science teachers to take advantage of this special opportunity to explore the scholarship around the war and its legacy as well as the pedagogical possibilities of this history in the classroom. Special focus will be given to the contributions of the counties represented at the conference. Considering the challenges related to time differences when attending an international event, all teacher participants will receive a $200 scholarship.

We extend our sincerest appreciation to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA) for its decade long, unwavering support for the foundation’s efforts to preserve oral and artifactual histories of Korean War Veterans as well as its steadfast support of teacher training and curriculum development. Teachers and the students they teach will be critical in preserving the historical importance of the Korean War and its rich history.
