Tawil Boonyawiwat

Bio

Tawil Boonyawiwat was born on June 26, 1932 in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon completing his schooling, he enlisted in the military. With the onset of the Korean War, Thailand was the first Asian country to send military assistance, and it was just a matter of time before he was sent there to serve. He felt strongly about stopping the spread of communism and wanted to be there to do his part. He was unprepared for what he saw the Korean people going through, and the images of them starving have never left his memory. Upon revisiting Korea many years later, he was impressed with the rapid development and prosperity that the country had been able to experience and was very happy for the people.
