Prachuab Subhajalat

Bio

Prachuab Subhajalat was the third of eleven children in his family. His father was a lawyer and his mother a housewife. He joined the navy in 1948 as required service in Thailand and ended up serving a total of seven years. He said Thailand was requested by the United Nations to protect its friend, South Korea. He patrolled the seas by ship, sweeping for mines. He reported they always needed to be prepared, but they were not in great danger at any particular time. During the war, because of his assignment, he never set foot in Korea, but was proud of what South Korea had accomplished by the time he finally was able to tour South Korea in 1995.

Watching Sonor and Musical Bands

Prachuab Subhajalat always had to be prepared but was not in extremely dangerous conditions. The most intense part of service was watching sonar for several hours at a time. The most difficult thing was to make sure his sailors maintained a positive morale. He would arrange for bands to perform on board and other forms of entertainment.
