Klom Pienkoh
Bio
Klom Pienkoh was born in Thailand on May 29, 1930. His father passed away when he was just three years old, leaving his mother to raise him and his three siblings on a farm. After graduating from high school in 1949, Klom enlisted in the Navy and arrived in Korea in October 1951. He served as a petty officer 3rd class and worked in the ship’s gunnery before eventually becoming a captain. He was proud to have served during the Korean War and revisited South Korea in 2019.

Enduring a Typhoon
Klom Pienkoh recounts an incident at sea when their ship was caught in a typhoon. He remembers the towering waves that rocked and tilted the ship, making many of the men on board seasick. He recalls assisting those who were ill by providing them with food and drink to help them recover.
