Gene A. Metz was born on February 23, 1933, in Blain, Pennsylvania, alongside his twin brother, Dean. From a young age, Gene embodied a spirit of service and camaraderie, enlisting in the United States Army with his brother. Both served together in the same unit during the Korean War.
