John H. Jackson
Bio
John H. Jackson enlisted in the United States Army in February 1949. He did not mind going to the Korean War considering the service of his family. His dad fought in WWI, and two of his brothers fought in WWII. He served at the Pusan Perimeter when he first arrived in Korea, and he had to watch out for North Koreans who were dressed as civilians who planned to kill US soldiers. He fought at Wonsan Landing and up to the Chosin Reservoir through Hagaru-ri and Koto-ri. After fourteen months fighting in the Korean War, he went back home without a warm reception from Americans on the home front, but he was thankful to be out of the Chosin Reservoir winter.
