Richard E. Fordyce

Bio

Ricard E. Fordyce was a a junior in high school when the Korean War broke out. Without hesitation, he withdrew from school at the age of seventeen and joined the United States military. After eighteen weeks in infantry training, he headed to Korea. After arriving in Korea, he was assigned to the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division as a machine gunner. Shortly after his arrival, he was quckly promoted to machine gun squad leader. After being wounded, he returned to combat and was promoted to rifle squad leader. After 11 months of service, he returned to the states and was assigned to Camp Rucker in Alabama. At the time, Camp Rucker served as a training base and he worked as a Platoon Sergeant preparing troops for war. During this time, he completed Unit CBR Defense Officer and Noncommissioned Officer School. After being discharged, he earned a degree in Economics from attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky and became President of the Incentive Travel Division of Carlson Companies in Minneapolis.
