Bio

William “Bill” Guess served his country during the Korean War as a member of the United States 8th Army, 32nd Engineer Battalion. Drafted in 1951, he was sent to Korea, where he built critical infrastructure, including shelters and foxholes for fellow soldiers, while facing relentless artillery fire. Bill spent 15 months stationed along the 38th Parallel and survived a mortar attack that severely fractured his arm just before his return home.

After the war, Bill and his wife, Inez, first settled in Indiana. Eventually, they made their home in Franklin County, Tennessee, where they raised seven children. Inez fondly remembers the life they built together and the many cherished moments they shared. In 2021, she honored his memory by placing a wreath on his grave during a Wreaths Across America ceremony at the cemetery where he rests. Celebrating his service and the enduring legacy of their life together.
