Bio

Sergeant Dayton Oakes served with the United States Marine Corps during both World War II and the Korean War. He saw combat with the 1st Marine Division in Korea from 1951 to 1952. During the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge, he was wounded in action on Hill 412 in October 1951. Dayton remained in the Marines until his honorable discharge in 1958.
