Bio

Sergeant Carl Hasty enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 1947 and began his service with the occupation forces in Japan. When the Korean War erupted in 1950, his unit—the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division —became the first American ground forces to arrive in Korea as part of Task Force Smith. Carl served in Korea until he rotated back to Japan in the spring of 1951.
